Given the wide range of services offered by CAs, a number of them develop an expertise in specific fields of practice. The Ordre grants the CA•IT and CA•IFA designations to CAs who meet the stringent requirements established by the CICA's Alliances for Excellence and approved by the Bureau of the Ordre.
Holders of these designations are recognized across Canada in their area of expertise since a rigorous and objective certification process attests to their skills and experience. The Ordre established transitional measures to allow these individuals to use their designation in Quebec until the Regulation respecting specialties is adopted.
CA•IFAs combine the attributes for which CAs are recognized and respected - particularly integrity, business knowledge and financial acumen - with the in-depth experience of investigative and forensic accounting. The CA•IFA designation indicates to trial lawyers, law enforcement officials, the courts and other legal forums that its holder is qualified to practice in areas such as fraud and economic loss quantification.
You can consult the List of CA·IFAs who are members of the Ordre.
For more information and to obtain an application form, go to www.cica.ca/IFA.
A CA•IT brings a business-oriented approach to IT strategy and implementation, and applies business acumen, strategic insight and understanding of IT to help organizations succeed.
CAs who would like to hone their IT skills without obtaining the designation can become subscribers of the Allliance for Excellence in IT. They will receive value added services and, by improving their skills, improve the stature of the CA designation.
