Reinstatement

Reinstatement on the Membership Roll of the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec

A person wishing to be reinstated on the Ordre's Membership Roll must complete and sign the Application for reinstatement form and obtain the signature of three members in good standing of the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec.

The applicant must also pay the annual fee for the year of striking off or removal from the Roll, the current annual fee, and the reinstatement fee. The applicant cannot be reinstated without paying the fees and other amounts due to the Ordre within the prescribed period.

Reinstatement is not automatic. The departments that oversee the protection of the public need a minimum of 45 days to evaluate the application. They may object to the applicant being reinstated for such reasons as conduct, competence or the qualities needed to practice the profession. Proof of liability insurance is also required, where applicable.

Whether or not the applicant intends to open a firm has no bearing on the decision. The application of a person wishing to be reinstated for the sole purpose of holding the CA designation with no intention of going into public practice will follow the same steps.

If there are no objections, the applicant is reinstated on the Ordre’s Membership Roll. The CA designation and the initials "CA" can be used only as of the date on which the Administrative Committee approves the application for reinstatement.

If the period of resignation or striking off exceeds five years, the Ordre may impose a refresher training period in accordance with section 1 of the Regulation respecting refresher training periods and courses of the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec.

A member who held the FCA title prior to resigning or being struck off the Roll does not take up the title upon reinstatement. For more information on this issue, consult the FCA awarding and withdrawal policy.
