An individual who believes that a CA has violated a professional regulation can take steps to institute a disciplinary recourse and file a complaint with the syndic of the Ordre. The role of the syndic is to receive complaints lodged under the Code of Ethics of Chartered Accountants, conduct inquiries and follow up on complaints.
The syndic may refer the complaint to the Committee on Discipline, institute a conciliation procedure, take action or issue a warning.
If the syndic dismisses the complaint, the plaintiff may appeal the decision to the Review Committee.
The brochure entitled The syndic's role and services is available in PDF format.
The hearing roll is posted in the offices of the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec not less than ten days before the date set for the hearing. Unless otherwise ordered, every hearing shall be public. Prior to attending a hearing, we recommend that you check the online schedule for any changes.
When the Disciplinary Council finds a member or an individual who was formerly a member of the Ordre guilty of a violation of the laws and regulations governing the profession, it renders a decision imposing a penalty.
