The trend towards international standards and a rapidly changing business world are just two reasons why our strategic directions need to be reviewed periodically in order for the profession to remain current and competitive.
We are Canada’s most valued, internationally recognized profession of leaders in senior management, advisory, financial, tax and assurance roles.
Chartered Accountants are valued for their integrity and expertise.
With its primary objective being the protection of the public, the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec takes the necessary measures to ensure that chartered accountants are recognized, in a global context, as trusted, financial leaders with strong business and assurance skills who act with objectivity and integrity in senior management, advisory, tax and assurance roles, and that they dominate all senior financial positions and advisory roles.
This positioning is the basis of the Ordre’s 2006-2010 strategic directions, which are developed around five areas of strategic emphasis:
| Area 1: | Branding Strengthen our identity inside and outside the profession and enhance our influence on the markets by effectively positioning and promoting the CA brand, drawing on our core values and distinctive competencies. |
| Area 2: | Future CAs and Education Recruit a sufficient number of high-calibre candidates and ensure that they acquire the top-level skills required to meet market needs and protect the public. |
| Area 3: | Member relations Increase communication with members and offer them products and services that will strengthen their sense of belonging to the CA profession and ensure that the CA profession remains their primary reference source throughout their career. |
| Area 4: | The Protection of the Public Continue enhancing the core values of our profession and the protection of the public by working in collaboration with the other CA institutes in Canada and regulatory authorities. |
| Area 5: | Governance and organizational effectiveness at the Ordre Continue to enhance management effectiveness and value-for-money by continuously improving the Ordre's methods and governance as well as the communication and cooperation mechanisms with the other CA institutes. |
The 2006-2010 strategic directions are intended to ensure the development of the CA profession. Their implementation is an ambitious project that will require the cooperation of numerous stakeholders, starting with the members of the profession. The strategic directions are in line with those developed by the other CA institutes in Canada. Several directions reflect the profession’s national character and international dimensions.
